The Apollo alternative for founders who want warm leads, not bigger lists
Apollo.io answers “who could buy?” with a 200M-contact database. LeadSleuth answers “who needs this right now?” with public buying-intent signals and sourced AI dossiers.
Apollo.io is the default answer for outbound: a contact database of 200M+ people, filters, sequences, and a dialer. It is excellent at answering "give me a list of 5,000 VPs of Sales". Where it struggles is the question that actually drives replies: "who needs my product right now?"
Where Apollo-style list building falls short
- Static fit, no timing. Title + industry filters tell you who could buy, not who is looking. Everyone mails the same exported lists, and cold reply rates show it (fractions of a percent).
- Volume pricing pushes volume behavior. Apollo's public pricing (August 2026): Free tier, then Basic $49, Professional $79 and Organization $119 per user/month on annual billing (roughly 20% more monthly), plus a credit system for mobile numbers and exports. Credits and sequence seats reward spray-and-pray, which burns domains and brands.
- Research is still on you. A row in a CSV is not a reason to write to someone. Personalization means opening 10 tabs per lead.

How LeadSleuth is different
LeadSleuth starts from buying-intent signals, not a database. It watches public posts on Hacker News and Bluesky (more sources in evaluation) for people asking for recommendations, complaining about a competitor, or describing the exact problem you solve — matched against your ICP. For each match, an AI research agent builds a dossier: who the person is across platforms, role and career history, why they fit, and a ready-to-edit reply that quotes their own words. Every claim is cited and confidence-scored; unknowns are marked unknown rather than guessed. Nothing is auto-sent — you review and send every message.
Apollo vs LeadSleuth at a glance
| Apollo.io | LeadSleuth | |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | Contact database + filters | Live buying-intent signals matched to your ICP |
| Timing | None — static lists | Leads surfaced while the need is public and fresh |
| Research | Manual, per lead | AI dossier with cited sources per lead |
| Outreach | Automated sequences at scale | Human-reviewed replies that quote the lead's own post |
| Volume | Thousands of contacts | A short daily list of warm, timely leads |
| Best for | SDR teams running volume outbound | Founders and small B2B teams without SDRs |
| Price | Free tier; $49–$119/user/mo (annual) + credits | Free while in beta |
Which should you choose?
If you have an SDR team and a motion built on volume, Apollo remains a strong database. If you are a founder or a small team that wants a handful of warm, right-now conversations instead of a thousand cold ones, an intent-first tool is the better fit — and they are complementary: many teams keep Apollo for enrichment and use LeadSleuth to find the moment.

Apollo

Apollo vs LeadSleuth 一览
| Apollo.io | LeadSleuth | |
|---|---|---|
